A Vidui Meditation

A Vidui Meditation

This post presents a personal, meditative approach to the Ashamnu prayer, an alphabetical acrostic of 22 sins recited during each of the five prayer services on Yom Kippur. With guiding questions to help us relate to the traditional words, this piece encourages people to look inward, understanding how we have committed these transgressions as both individuals and a community. This meditation was created by Danny Cohen, a meditation teacher, life coach, and the founding director of Or HaLev Center for Jewish Spirituality and Meditation. This prayer was shared on the The Open Siddur Project, which aims to liberate the creative content of Jewish spiritual practice as a commonly held resource for adoption, adaptation, and redistribution
