Hasidic Kavvanah (Intention) for Lighting the Hannukah Candles

This link opens up the Hebrew and English text of a Hasidic prayer that can be recited prior to the lighting of the Hannukah candles, composed by Rebbe Tzvi Elimelech Spira of Dinov and translated by Morah Yehudis Fishman. Rebbe Tzvi Elimelech Spira (1783-1841) was the founder of the Hasidic lineage that includes the Munkacz and Bluzhov Hasidim. The text, which appears in many Hasidic prayerbooks, includes Kabbalistic prayers for divine unity and revelation, as well as a prayer to invoke God’s mercy and protection over this generation, as was done for our ancestors. This prayer was shared on the The Open Siddur Project, which aims to liberate the creative content of Jewish spiritual practice as a commonly held resource for adoption, adaptation, and redistribution
