Written by Rabbi Burt Jacobson of the Jewish Renewal movement, this alternative version of the liturgical prayer, Avinu Malkeinu, refers to God not only as our Father and King, but also our Mother and Queen, Source and Destiny, and Guide and Truth. It is a prayer to God help us grow in our personal, interpersonal, and divine relationships. Originally from the High Holiday supplement of the Reconstructionist Congregation Mishkan Shalom in Philadelphia, this prayer was shared on Ritualwell.org, a project of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College that provides a platform for creating new Jewish practices and observances.
