The Fountainheads: Dayenu, Coming Home

A parody of Diddy’s “Coming Home” and Cee Lo Green’s “Forget You,” this high-energy music video features The Fountainheads singing about the Israelites yearning for freedom when they were slaves in EgyptThe Fountainheads is an all-volunteer, student-led artistic project, led by young Israeli singers, dancers, and musicians, all students of the Ein Prat Academy for Leadership, who have joined forces to create new Jewish artistic content for today’s Jewish world. The lyrics can be seen below.

Dayenu, Coming Home

I dream of home, on my own
Through the sands,
I walk alone
Wish away, across the sea
Maybe one day I’ll be free…

Hey you! get back to work!

Come on… Let me hear you!

I’ve been buildin’ these pyramids
For hundreds of years and I’m like
Forget you!

And all these chains on my back
They just bring me to tears,
And I’m like, Forget you
And Dayenu!

Said, if I was freer, you think I’d still be here?
Well you sure got some chutzpah!
(You’ve got some chutzpah!)

And since you give me no rest
I’ll be off on my quest
Well uh, Forget you!

Yeah I’m sorry, that I’m in a hurry,
But that don’t mean I can’t bake my bread.

Yeah you’re just chametz, but I’m Shmura Matzah
Think I’ll be on my way instead.

Me and my crew… we’ve had enough of you
(You goin’ somewhere better?)
Well…
(Be sure to pack your sweater)
Ooooooh, I’ve got some news for you
Yeah, you messin’ with
The Children of Israel!

I’ve been buildin’ these pyramids
For hundreds of years and I’m like
Forget you!

And all these chains on my back
They just bring me to tears, and I’m like
Forget you! and…

Sheket Bevakasha!

I must be dreamin, we’ve waited for so long
we’re breaking free, goin’ back where we belong
Listen up, reach out your hands
It’s time to let my people go to the Promised Land! Come on!

I’m coming home, coming home
Tell the world I’m coming home
Let the sea wash away
All the pain of yesterday
I know my freedom awaits
(Freedom, baby!)
Take control of my own fate
(Can you feel it?)
I’m coming home, coming home
Tell the world I’m coming…

(Mah nishtana!)
I’m coming home, coming home
(On this night)
Tell the world I’m coming home
(Who knows one?)
Let the joy wash away
All the pain of yesterday
I know my freedom awaits
(Thank God All Mighty)
just across my seder plate
(We are free at last!)
I’m coming home, coming home
(Can you feel it?)
Tell the world I’m coming home.
